The Coming of the Celestial Brotherhood
And so it came upon a time of the earliest wanderings of Man upon the surface of the world, and after the departing of the most beloved Adars’ and Edans’, that unto the sky came five new stars of great brightness. Although their light was great, it paled next to that of the ancient father Sun. Yet as the father Sun passed from view, these new Stars cast their light down upon the world and brought twilight unto the night, for always with the Mother Moon did they rest, hiding from the Sun. And they were called ‘The Celestial Brothers’.
So after many days and nights in the heavens above the world, four of the Brothers began their slow fall unto the earth below. For many more nights the stars grew larger in the skies, until one deep winter's night over the greatest of all the plains of the world did they come to rest. High yet still in the sky did their fall stop and great shadows did they cast upon the ground beneath them. Far above these four brothers resting amidst the Mother Moon and stars, the fifth brother stood sentinel over his kin.
So with the rising of the Father Sun over the great plains, the peoples of the plains saw before them four great cities of the sky, and from them came a great host unlike any that had walked the world before them.
A host born of the fires of the firmament, likened to the Wyrm yet in the form of Man and Elf alike. Scaled of skin and winged yet upon two legs did they walk, and speak did they as if a child of the Sun and Moon themselve's.
There over the passing’s of many seasons upon the greatest of plains did arise another great city beneath those of the Brother Stars, and all under the watchful gaze of the Sentinel Brother high above.
The City beneath the four brothers grew as the peoples of the world flocked to greet the children of the Celestial brothers, and there great trade was done. Much learning and teaching was both given and received by all of the peoples unto each other, for the city was a place of great brotherhood.
To the children of Adar El did the Children of the Celestial Brothers give a great creature, one of great power, a worm within whom was stored vast powers for the use of magic. And the Children of the Brothers too taught the children of El how to care for the worm, to nurture and raise it. To the Children of El did they also give the knowledge of Magic with which to mould the worm, to change it and its form.
And all this they gave in exchange for the fruits and seeds of the great forests within which the children of El did reside.
Unto the children of Adar Dwar did the Children of the Celestial Brothers give great Understanding on the workings of water and steam. So too did they give them knowledge of the minerals of the ground unknown before their coming and of the Crystals of the world and the energies they held within.
And all this they gave in exchange for the materials and foods of the underlands within which the Children of Dwar did dwell.
Unto the Children of Edan Saiy did the Children of the Celestial Brothers give much in the ways of the oceans and the harvesting of those things therein. So too did they give unto the Children of Saiy the knowledge of the water fire that burns beneath the waves.
And all this they gave in exchange for the bounty of the oceans in all its forms within which the Children of Saiy did play and rest.
Unto the Children of the Sister Twin, unto Man did the Children of the Celestial Brothers give knowledge of all kinds, for they were the younger of all the world's children and needed the most of the learnings and teachings.
But alas for the peoples of the world. Upon a time did the Celestial Brothers turn to quarrelling amongst themselves, and their quarrels turned with great flashings of light and thunderous noise to violence. Across the world did the Cities of the Skies travel in their attempts to defeat each other, until upon the last morning of the Celestial Brothers did only three Brothers return to the great city upon the plains. Bleeding and broken did they return limping and lustful.
There did they cast out many of their peoples. The lesser Wyrm kin, those not born of dragon, the lizard tall and strong, of scaled skin yet wingless. These outcasts were of a worker casts, cast down upon the world, for in uprising did they set Celestial brother against Celestial Brother and cause the fall of the great city of Shaddar Norden upon the world.
Alone these lizards were not in the conspiracies that brought unto the ground the great city. For it was discovered that those children of the sister twin most corrupted by her brother's early medalling’s did conspire and aid in the uprising for the lower lizard casts within the cities. There too did the minions of the brother twin cast his whisperings unto the peoples of the sky, corrupting their minds as his words had so long ago done to the peoples of the world.
Much dismay and anger was there upon the world, and the peoples of the Sister twin did withdraw in shame. Unto the kingdoms of the south did they retreat, to the safety of their ancient homelands.
So it was that in response, the cities of the skies did carve a great trench upon the world, one that did separate the kingdoms of man from the lands of the elder races. And so with a light so blinding as to be seen across the world, the cities of the sky did carve a rift betwixt the two lands. A scar upon the world, there to remind all of the hateful acts that brought an end to the brotherhoods time upon the world.
Once more did the cities of the sky return unto their brother, the sentinel within the firmament. There they did remain for a time. Until upon a darkened and clouded night did the light of their presence fade and once more unto darkness was the night cast.
